The CanaryQ Plasma Separator is a hand powered filtering device that does not require a centrifuge to process whole blood. This pressure driven module retains all cells (red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets) in the chamber and dispenses cell-free plasma in under 30 seconds. Cells remain intact due to the CanaryQ Plasma Separator proprietary chamber design that controls the internal pressure to prevent hemolysis from occurring.
The CanaryQ Plasma Separator filter membrane does not need to be further processed to extract plasma like a dry blood spot card. Instead, liquid plasma can be delivered immediately onto your assay. It is ideal for assays that may be susceptible to hematocrit bias. A hematocrit (% by volume of RBCs in blood) that is low can falsely report higher levels of analytes. Similarly, measurements of analytes in plasma will report lower in high hematocrit samples.
